Dear George and Michelle,
I wanted to drop you a note to thank you for the opportunity to play the Alumni. I bid on 2 spots and talked my friend into another 2 so we were a big part of it. We had an outstanding time. The Alumni were friendly, personable, and incredibly patient with us "pond hockey" guys for the event.
Every guy from St. Joe's was glowing from the experience and talked about what a lifetime memory it created. I personally brought my wife and 2 sons to the game and what a memory to walk down the hall to the ice and see my boys hanging out by the railing near the bench to cheer me on. I had Shawn Burr, Dave Lewis, and Darren Banks (to name a few) on my team and what a bunch of characters. They were fabulous. The fun and comradery they brought to the game was outstanding and I will cherish that forever.
As the evening went on and people eventually left I found myself and my 3 buddies sitting around with Eddie Mio, Gerry Abel and Mickey Redmond. What a joy and honor to sit and listen to them talk about everything from composite sticks to hockey war stories to what wonderful owners that the Ilitch's are. I cannot decide what was better the hockey or the conversation. If this is ever offered again I know that we would all jump at the opportunity and fear that "bidding" may go high after the word gets out about how fantastic we were treated and what a wonderful memory that was created for us and our families that attended the game.
I know my boys 4 & 6 thought that this was "so cool" to be in Joe Lewis Arena to watch their Dad skate with such legends! Again I want to thank both of you, the Alumni that participated, and the Ilitch family for making such a memorable evening possible.
Thank you,
Lenny Tuttle
"I have been so touched by the Detroit Red Wings Alumni and thank them for honoring me
this year as the 'Alumni Super Kid.' I have had Systemic Sclerosis, a restrictive lung disease
Which makes attending school difficult for me at times as it's hard to keep up. I am so
Grateful for the Red Wings Alumni inviting me as their special guest this past summer (2010)
To attend the President’s Ball with my family. It was one of the highlights of my life so far.
I got to meet Joey Kocur which was really cool."
